Our founder among 16 members of Social Enterprise Advisory Group for Greater Manchester
A newly formed advisory group, the Greater Manchester Social Enterprise Advisory Group (GM SEAG), sets an ambition to grow the Social Enterprising movement in Greater Manchester.
We are excited to announce that our founder George Konstantakopoulos is one of sixteen representatives that have been selected to join the Greater Manchester Social Enterprise Advisory Group (GM SEAG).
The Group sets an ambition to grow the Social Enterprising movement in Greater Manchester by supporting the Mayor of Greater Manchester, the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) and the GM Local Enterprise Partnership leaders to include the social enterprise agenda in the delivery of the Greater Manchester Local Industrial Strategy.
The Group has already initiated a process that will allow monitoring progress to derive into clear recommendations and outcomes. In order to do so GM SEAG team defined a set of thematic areas that represent the most important areas to achieve its ambition, these are:
- Research and intelligence – to map and understand the social enterprise ‘sector’ in Greater Manchester
- Raising awareness and profile – for consumers to understand social enterprise, ‘buy social’ and gather collective support from business, universities and the public sector.
- Influencing public and business sector procurement – to enable more purchasing from organisations which will generate more ‘social value’ including social enterprises and advise on current procurement arrangements.
- Identification of the market and investment opportunities – linked back to the Local Industrial Strategy, but also looking at other priority issues such as young people in social enterprise, inter-generational support, and so on.
The GM SEAG will meet quarterly bringing together a diverse group of social enterprise leaders, together with The Growth Company, the Co-op Groups and other key business leaders.
We want to hear from you and to include your opinion to be part of the discussion. Please reach out to us via twitter or our contact form.
